Every month for 2013 the Featherbed Railroad is going to host a local artist in a reception on the final Sunday of the month.
We have the privilege of hosting a local artist to showcase their talent. We also bring in a winery to offer wine tasting to participants of this event. Lastly, each artist gets to highlight a local charity so your donation will get you wine, some light hors d'oeuvres and a feel-good contribution to charity.
Our artist for January 27 2013 is Karen Manetele. Karen's paintings are bright, cheerful and just make you smile. Karen also has post cards of many of her paintings so you can take home a full-size painting or a pocket-size keepsake.
Our winery is going to be Lavendar Blue Winery which just won a double Gold. Lavender Blue produces several styles of quality wine. Featured at the event will be at least one choice from each style, including, but not limited to, one sweet style, Sauvignon Blanc; one dry white wine, Viognier or Sauvignon Blanc; an off-dry Rose’ (a new varietal for the Lavender Blue label); a dry red (Cabernet or Petite Syrah); and, a dessert wine such as Tawny Syrah.
This month's proceeds go to local radio station KPFZ which is definitely the sound of the community and represents the efforts of a number of volunteers including Karen.
The requested donation for wine tasting and paired appetizers is $15.
