Roots of Motive Power is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1982 to preserve and restore steam and diesel-powered equipment used in the California north coast logging industry from the 1850s to the present. Guests are welcome to tour the collection at no charge during work days, which are generally held on the first and third Sundays of each month from 9-4pm.
In addition to all the railroad activities, they also have a full working steam-powered sawmill that you have to see.
Hours: The First and Third Sundays of each month - 9am-4pm
Distance from the Featherbed Railroad: 41 miles - approximately 45 minutes.
